If you would like to work for a highly regarded and established legal firm, we are offering the opportunity for a full time Legal Cashier to join their Accounts department.

The prime role as the Legal Cashier is to take care of all accounting and financial operations within the Firm, whilst ensuring they comply with all compliance regulation and SRA Accounts Rules.

As their Legal Cashier, you will be expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality and will report to the Directors. Previous experience within a law firm is essential and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team with a "can do" attitude. A positive approach to working under pressure in fast paced environment, along with a high level of confidentiality, reliability, diligence and attention to detail.

Your responsibilities shall include but not limited to:-
– To be the main point of contact for all payment and account enquiries.
– To provide support to employees relating to accounting queries.
– Bookkeeping and accounts maintenance on Xero in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules.
– Maintaining office and client ledgers.
– To oversee billing and nil balancing of accounts.
– Management of Debtors and Creditors and chasing overdue payments owed.
– Management of cashflow.
– Daily, weekly and monthly management reporting to the Directors, including filing and producing financial reports for the accountant.
– Ensuring the firms bank accounts and books match up by performing bank reconciliation.
– Processing transaction, including money received by the firm and payments out, by various financial mechanism, including bank transfer and cheque.
– Reporting any suspected account breaches or unauthorised activities via the appropriate channels.
– VAT return submission.
– Monitoring your work and the operations of the finance team, to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
– Liaising with relevant external parties, including clients, auditors, suppliers, banking providers, regulatory bodies and compliance officers.
– Financial data entry.
– Follow efficient billing and payment procedures in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
– To support junior colleagues within the department.
– To maintain relationships with staff and clients in accordance with the company’s values.
– To meet individual and team performance targets as agreed with management.
– Complying with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and Code of Conduct and the Money Laundering Regulations in accordance with current guidance from the SRA.
– To attend and contribute to monthly department meetings.
– To undertake any specific training when required to do so as well as the responsibility towards self-development.
– Contributing to maintaining and improving office procedures.
– Perform work accurately, reliably and in accordance with the Office Procedures Manual, CQS and Excel requirements.
– Any other matters reasonably required by the Directors.

Knowledge of the Accounting Software
Knowledge of annual audit and inspection processes

VAT return
Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules, Working Knowledge of LEAP and Xero, Knowledge of LEXCEL AND CQS (In-House training provided)
A recognised accounts qualification.

This superb position is offered on a full time, permanent basis with working hours 9am – 5:30pm Monday – Friday.
