Field Service Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical)
Location: Gainsborough (Workshop & Field Based)
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 DOE + Overtime (Realistic OTE £45,000 – £50,000)
Hours: Monday to Friday
A well-established engineering company is looking to add a Field Service Engineer to its team.
This is a field-based role covering customers across the UK and Ireland. You’ll spend most of your time attending customer sites carrying out fault finding, servicing, repairs, installations and commissioning work. When you’re not on the road, you’ll be based at the workshop in Gainsborough supporting the engineering team.
This role would suit someone with a good mix of electrical and mechanical experience who enjoys problem-solving and is happy with regular travel.
Duties
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on customer machinery
Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown visits
Install, commission and upgrade equipment at customer sites
Provide technical support and advice to customers when required
Complete service reports and job documentation
Work closely with the workshop and engineering teams
Attend product training and develop knowledge of the machinery range
Maintain a professional approach when working on customer sites
Requirements
Electrical and/or Mechanical qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)
Previous experience working with electrical and mechanical systems
Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Full UK driving licence
Comfortable dealing directly with customers
Basic IT skills including Word, Excel and service reporting systems
Flexible approach to travel and occasional overnight stays
Reliable, self-motivated and willing to learn

Previous Field Service Engineer experience
Experience working with machinery, manufacturing equipment or automation systems
Installation and commissioning experience
Travel
The role involves regular travel throughout the UK and Ireland. Overnight stays will be required and are usually planned in advance, although occasional short-notice travel may be needed for urgent breakdowns.
Accommodation, meals, company van, fuel card, tools, mobile phone and tablet are all provided.
Package
£35,000 – £40,000 basic salary depending on experience
Overtime available with realistic earnings of £45,000 – £50,000+
