Commis Chef

An attractive and prestigious, multi-award-winning, venue in the area of Melton Mowbray is looking to welcome a new Commis Chef to their hard-working team. You may already be a Commis Chef looking to join a new supportive company, or you’re a Junior Chef, KP (Kitchen Porter) or similar and looking to further your career as a Chef.
 
Salary: Competitive annual salary + excellent staff benefits + share of tips
Hours: Full-time, working on a rota basis, 5 days per week out of 7, across reasonable and fair working hours.
 
We are looking for:
– A good understanding of basic working practices in a kitchen environment, to include Food Hygiene standards, allergy awareness and dietary requirements
– Previous experience working in a catering environment
– A good level of attention to detail
– An excellent attitude to work, supportive nature towards your colleagues and an organised, hard-working nature
– A passion for good quality, fresh and natural ingredients
 
Day to day in your role as Commis Chef, you will be:
– Assisting senior colleagues with the kitchen operations
– Working in a clean and safe environment with a requirement to clean down your work station as needed
– Preparing salad ingredients, fruits, vegetables, meats and sauces as instructed by colleagues
– Undertaking stock control duties, ensuring safe food storage guidelines are being followed, tidying fridges/freezers etc. and informing colleagues when stock is running low
– Supporting plating and preparation of dishes in line with company standards, as required.
