CNC Programmer & Manual Machinist
Full-Time | Permanent | Own Transport Required
We’re looking for a capable and experienced CNC Programmer and Operator to join our clients team on a permanent basis.
This is a hands-on role working with a large Enshu machining centre (Fanuc control), manual lathe, and auto-feed bandsaw, with the opportunity to operate a variety of manual and CNC equipment across our busy workshop.
You’ll be machining a wide range of parts—mostly profiled billets cut in-house—along with stock bar and structural steel sections.
Materials include mild steel and hardened wear plate (HB-400/500).
This role requires someone confident working independently, capable of programming from scratch, and setting up their own tooling and fixtures.
Minimal training will be given on the machining centre and lathe, so experience is essential. Training can be provided for other equipment.
Equipment You’ll Use:
Enshu CNC machining centre (Fanuc)
Manual lathe and bandsaw
125-ton press brake
Radial arm drill
Section rolls & initial pinch plate rolls
CNC plasma/flame profiler (training provided)
Responsibilities:
Write and edit manual G-code programs for complex parts on Fanuc-controlled CNC machinery
Create CNC programs and setup workholding for a range of jobs
Perform milling, drilling, tapping, thread milling, and chamfering operations
Maintain tools and inserts, monitor stock levels, and recommend new tooling
Carry out basic machine maintenance
Work independently to meet production needs
What We’re Looking For:
Strong experience with Fanuc-controlled CNC machining
Confident in manual machining
Good problem-solving and planning skills
Ability to read technical drawings and work to tolerance
Must have own transport – no public transport access available
Hours & Benefits:
Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm (40 hrs/week)
Paid morning break (10:00–10:20), unpaid lunch (1:00–1:30)
4 weeks holiday + bank holidays, rising to 5 weeks after 1 year (3 days reserved for Christmas shutdown)
Stable, long-term opportunity in a supportive team environment
Application Process:
To be successful for this role, you will be sent a short programming task to complete and return. This helps us assess your practical understanding of CNC programming with Fanuc controls.
