We are recruiting for 2 Technicians for a global Manufacturing company based in Newark.
You will be working within the European Technolgy Centre and you will be performing testing and investigation activities that contribute to timely completion of technical projects and providing support to all the European Operations.
Main duties
* Responsible for carrying out test activities as defined by the project leader.
* Preparation of documentation, test bearings, test heads, calibration and setting up of instrumentation prior to testing.
* Maintain and monitor tests to ensure successful completion with regular feedback on progress to the project leader.
* Collate test data and ensure information is adequately protected.
* Responsible for raising expenditure sanction forms for the purchase of consumables and test equipment parts.
* Produces rig component design drawings for approval by the project leader to meet customer test requirements.
* Responsible for aspects of new rig design and build, e.g. pneumatics and hydraulics specification.
* Carry out designated tasks in support of bearing investigations.
* Perform detailed and accurate measurement of bearing components.
* Responsible for the preparation of test / investigation reports
* Ensure all activities meet the requirements of ETC quality, health & safety and environmental systems
Qualifications
Ideally – ONC/HNC
Would Accept: Someone with mechanical aptitude / interest, wanting to be hands-on, also be willing to undertake formal training
Skills & Knowledge
* A basic understanding of rolling element bearing design and manufacture.
Ideal: Looking for someone with basic knowledge of bearings, operation and manufacturing processes
Would accept: Someone with general knowledge of mechanical systems & manufacturing processes
* Basic computer competence in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Ability to communicate proficiently, both written & verbal
* An understanding of the effective operation and preventative maintenance of test equipment.
Ideal: Previous experience of running test rigs, maintenance of test equipment.
Would accept: Experience of using &/or carrying out maintenance on machinery
Experience
* Minimum of 1 year working within a general engineering related industry.
* Operating within a TS / IATF 16949 quality environment.
Ideal: Familiarity / understanding of an automotive quality system eg TS / IATF16949
Would accept: Working with a non-automotive specific quality system, eg. ISO9000, etc. Looking for familiarity / understanding of quality procedures.
Working Hours – Mon-Thur 8.30am – 5pm and Fri 8.30am-3.15pm
Salary band is £20,000 – £25,000 dependant on skills and experience
