Management Accountant/Assistant

We have an exciting temporary position for our client located in the Vale of Belvoir for an Management Accountant/Assistant MA for a three month assignment with a view to be reviewed and potentially extended.

As the Management Accountant/Assistant MA you'll be helping to drive forward the management accounts and weekly reporting processes. You will need to hit the ground running and take ownership of a complex set of accounts. At the same time, you will be prepared to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into whatever lies in the way of progress – we are a small team who support each other and contribute at all levels

This is a new position with some flexibility over job and person spec. To succeed you will need to demonstrate relevant experience, flexibility, attention to detail and strong Excel skills


• Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth
• Provide accurate and sound management reporting to assist with key decision making
• Produce financial statements including profit and loss accounts, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries
• Prepare monthly management accounts and for presentation to the board
• Produce month end journals, accruals and prepayments for both income and expenditure
• Manage capital expenditure
• Assisting in cash flow forecasts
• Monthly cash position and debtor reports
• Prepare monthly reconciliations across multiple enterprises to include stock and sales releases and intercompany reconciliations
• Assessment of monthly expenses
• Production of relevant commercial analysis e.g., variances, margins and pricing

The Ideal candidate:

• Will have an accountancy qualification (CIMA/AAT) or QBE with demonstrable experience in an SME
• Thorough understanding of management information systems
• Good interpersonal skills and able to successfully communicate with people at all levels, both financial and non-financial
• Analytical with strong attention to detail
• High level of IT skills – especially Microsoft Excel
• Flexible approach to day to day working and ability to cope with a fast paced and constantly changing environment and help / support the team where needed
• Experience of current accounting software packages

This role is immediately available, however the right candidate is certainly required due to the nature of our clients business. Hours of work on offer are 09:00 – 17:30 Monday to Friday with an hourly rate of pay ranging between £12.20 – £17.79 depending on experience.
